DacMagic Plus 629 on sale now for 529 with optional BT100 119
How do you follow a legend? By creating a new legend. Absolute Sound said of the DacMagic Plus, “Benchmark, price/performance leader, giant-killer…call the Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus anything you like, but the bottom line is that it can deliver a surprisingly high level of performance and ergonomic elegance at a price that will leave plenty of money left over for other components in your system”. These days computers, TVs, Blu-ray players and the like can all deliver audio to your hi-fi system. But because they’re primarily designed to perform other functions their audio outputs lack quality. However, by simply connecting them to DacMagic Plus you can bypass their inbuilt digital to analog converters thereby transforming their humdrum performance into something altogether more spectacular. Sound, the way it’s meant to be. And by linking the optional plug-and-play BT100 wireless audio receiver to DacMagic Plus you can also stream music, in audiophile quality, wirelessly from your iPhone, iPad, laptop, Android, in short any device that supports Bluetooth. Like its predecessor, the original DacMagic, the DacMagic Plus is still a steal.

Stream Magic 6 version 2 clearing at 999
Stream Magic 6 is a fully featured upsampling network player designed to deliver digitally stored music to your hi-fi in the highest quality. How much upsampling? Using their proprietary ATF2 (that’s Adaptive Timed Filtering) all incoming audio data is upsampled to 24bit/384kHz. Algorithms act on the sample to virtually eliminate jitter, the scourge of playing back music from hard-disc devices. Easily set up it dramatically enhances digital music files stored on any device with a digital ‘out’ connection. Add a BT100 wireless audio receiver and it will then also include any device that supports Bluetooth, (smart phones, tablets, laptops, etc.). It’s also easy to use thanks to its UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) audio streaming compatibility. There’s no tricky software to master. And speaking of control, the Stream Magic 6 comes with a supplied remote or you can download a free App and use your smart phone or iPad as your remote. The iPad App is particularly sweet. Internet Radio is a world often overlooked. Cambridge Audio’s ‘Stream Magic Home’ portal has over 20,000 tried and tested roster of stations which are searchable by title, genre and region and are navigable from the Stream Magic 6. Also many streaming services come built-in, subject of course to availability. It’s time to make the Stream Magic 6 a member of your home network.

Air 100 Wireless Speaker now 459
The Air 100 music system is an AirPlay, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker allowing you to stream music stored on your computer or via portable devices as well as through music streaming apps. Plus access the over 20,000 Internet Radio Stations while storing your favourites using the five preset buttons. EQ tailors the Air to wherever you place it. There is even a bass port within the carry handle which produces heart thumping lows. The 100 incorporates another Cambridge innovation, the Patented Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) speaker drivers. Most drivers move in and out to create sound. The BMR drivers also create sound using horizontal vibration modes which disperses sound widely, meaning the speaker sounds great from wherever you are. The Air 100 is a compact, portable product that sounds like you are listening to a full hi-fi system. Ethernet connectivity and Wi-Fi encryption are included. Also available in black.

Azur 351R 5.1 HDMI 1.4 AV Receiver 849
Most living room setups are 5.1 (five speakers plus a subwoofer bass speaker). So instead of giving you a 7.1 receiver with two channels you'll never use, Cambridge has spent the development budget putting better quality components in the bits you will use. They've also taken technologies from their pricier Azur 551R and included them in the 351R, including premium toroidal transformers for stunning bass response and pure sound and an all-metal chassis to minimize distortion. The 351R is a home entertainment hub with enough inputs and outputs to hook up all your kit. There's enough capacity to connect not just Blu-ray disc players and satellite set-top boxes but games console and media players like Apple TV too, all in high definition via HDMI. There are plenty of inputs for hi-fi separates too. And the 351R packs plenty of power putting out 50 watts per channel (at 8 ohms) for room-filling surround sound and 80 watts per channel (at 6 ohms) for a superb audiophile stereo performance from even the most demanding speakers. And a clever automatic setup mode adjusts the speakers perfectly whatever the size and shape of your room. Clever, keenly priced and stunning both for home cinema and music, the 351R is hard to beat

Azur 551R now V2 7.1 HDMI AV Receiver 1499
So here I am showing off my new 60” Plasma and all my guests could talk about was the sound. Shouldn’t have been surprised. Sound is just so important to an immersive medium like home theatre. And when it comes to sound and home theatre nobody does it better than Cambridge Audio. Despite having a multitude of connections, including 4 HDMI ‘in’ and one HDMI ‘out’, Cambridge Audio has made the 551R simplicity itself when it comes to setup and use. And what a bonus that is! The simple setup procedure utilizes the supplied microphone to tailor the Receiver’s performance to any room. Daily control is equally straightforward using the supplied remote. Another welcome feature is its size. This unit should fit just about anywhere and despite not being a behemoth it runs cool due to a proprietary cooling system Cambridge calls X-Tract. Needless to say it supports all the current co-dec’s. Here are a couple of other features I’d be remiss if they weren’t mentioned. For playback of analog stereo sources, like vinyl, the 551R uses a ‘Pure Analogue Stereo Direct Mode’. Stereo is not an afterthought. And lastly the 551R incorporates a Faroudja FLI2310 video scaler for upscaling. Faroudja is state of the art and used to cost a fortune as a stand alone making the Azur 551R AV Receiver somewhat of a bargain.

Azur 751R 7.1 HDMI 1.4 AV Receiver 2999
The 751R's Anchor Bay ABT2010 scaler will coax 1080p Full HD detail out of even analogue video signals. And as well as video upscaling, the 751R features audio upsampling. Detail from any audio source, from MP3s to high-end digital audio streams, can be boosted to up to 24-bit/192kHz better-than-CD-quality. Digital audio files from laptops etc. can also be upsampled via the asynchronous USB input, bypassing sound cards for maximum quality and delivering 24-bit/192kHz ultra-high-quality audio. As well as comprehensive upscaling and upsampling capabilities, the 751R has the full range of top-end home cinema receiver features: 7.1 outputs (with option to run twin subs), two Texas Instruments 32-bit DSPs to support a broad range of surround formats and speaker layouts, and a comprehensive range of HDMI inputs and outputs. It also features Cambridge’s unique "Follow Main" Zone 2 option and DTS remapping (see Azur 651R above). Toroidal transformers provide a high purity, low-distortion signal. Discrete amplifiers reduce noise and X-Tract provides near-silent cooling. Coupled with a rigid low-resonance chassis which maximizes audio signal quality. 120W RMS power per channel for home cinema surround sound (7 channels at 8 ohms).
